The KATZ CONTEMPORARY gallery is located in "Haus zur
Katz" in the heart of Zurich, only a few minutes away from Paradeplatz and
Bahnhofstrasse. KATZ CONTEMPORARY concentrates primarily on contemporary art
and plans to present and support emerging artists. In collaboration with
private collections, the gallery will also offer first class works of art.
One of KATZ CONTEMPORARY's programs focuses on the
confrontation of works by young artists with those of established names.
Through alternating exhibitions, the new generation will thus have the
opportunity to exhibit with the older one, creating a promising dialogue.
The gallery's double orientation is reflected by its
architectural partition; the front room opens to the bustling Talstrasse while
the quiet side faces the Sihl River.
Although they will be displayed amongst renowned
artwork, young artists should be able to compete equally. This "cross-category"
concept will also show these widely discussed works in a new light. With a
dialogue between the still unknown and the already acclaimed, the gallery hopes
to present the works to visitors in a new and closer relationship and to leave
a lasting effect.
